Our Peak District cottage in Derbyshire is midway along the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site - the Valley that changed the World! - Its nomination by UNESCO was in recognition of the area's particular architecture and its distinctive landscape.
Country walks start from your doorstep in the private walled-garden of this beautiful stone-built cottage in Derbyshire's Peak District. Birdwarchers will enjoy the great variety we see, from small coal tits in the garden, a kingfisher on the river to the buzzards hovering over the valley. We are conveniently located in Amber Valley, just north of Derby, for exploring the magnificent Peak District National Park, the beautiful Derbyshire Dales and wonderful country houses including the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire's Chatsworth House. There are also many National Trust properties such as Kedleston Hall and Hardwick Hall, plus a wealth of English Heritage buildings to discover on days out. Many of these historic buildings are regularly used as locations for tv and films! Milford is just 14 miles by car from the M1 Motorway [Junctions 25 or 28] or easily accessed by bus or train [London St Pancras to Derby is only 1hour 25 minutes!]. If you are coming by public transport we will be happy to meet you and help with bags!
